Glorivy Arroyo

Recently praised by the Boston Globe as "a standout inhabiting total commitment and passion," conservatory-trained Glorivy Arroyo is thrilled to join The Real School team for the Fall of 2011. A native of Orlando, Florida, Glorivy grew up singing along to pop and contemporary songs on the radio with hairbrush in-hand. After being encouraged to audition while accompanying a friend on a music school visit, Glorivy started on the path of turning her hobby into something more.

Glorivy received her Bachelor's degree from Stetson University and her Master's degree from New England Conservatory with an emphasis on Vocal Performance and Education. She has gone on to work alongside world-renowned artists, such as Dawn Upshaw, Keith Lockhart, Peter Sellars, and Ewa Podles, in performances with regional opera companies across the United States. Maintaining an active performance schedule, she has been featured in Grammy and Pulitzer Prize winning programs, and serves as co-founder, host and headliner for both Opera Boston Underground (BEST OF BOSTON winner in 2008) and Tertulia 21, a new concert series that brings classical vocal music to intimate venues on a mission to attract new and young audiences.

Although a frequent performer in the classical realm, she continues to perform and specialize in contemporary, jazz, pop, and musical theatre. She looks forward to sharing her diverse musical background with her students.
